Our Anela

Wes and I enjoyed a "sleep-in" day today. A tree fell onto our church last Sunday during the wind-storm (hurricane-force winds! The leftovers from Hurricane Ike plus a jet stream turned into one crazy wind storm that knocked out power for a big majority of central Ohio--some still don't have power, a week later...). So, there was no church today. We thought of going somewhere else today, and Ella and I were almost ready to go when she fell asleep. I took advantage of my baby sleeping and went back to bed. It was nice (it hardly ever happens!). She's the queen of cat-napping, so when she slept for over an hour, I was shocked. But, loved it.

When we all woke up, we went to lunch together. You'll be shocked when I tell you that we ate at the Hong Kong Buffet. :) It was tasty, as always. While we were there, several people told us how cute and precious Ella is. I love it when people tell us this. We definitely think so, but when other people (strangers!) tell us how wonderful she is, it's just nice.

One man approached us at our table and told us that in Hawaii, where he is from, her little "strawberry" on her head is called "an Angel Kiss." I think that's so sweet! It's really a blood vessel that will just keep growing, and then eventually shrink and go away. But calling it an "angel kiss" is much sweeter. I said, "Yep, she's our little angel." He then went on to say, "The word for angel in Hawaii is 'anela'" (pronounced on-ella). We told him that her name is Ella, and he smiled.

She's our little Anela. Our little Angel. :)

Here's a picture of Ella's "Angel Kiss" (the big red spot on her head):

What a cute picture and a great story. Anela is a nice sounding word, and I'm glad your little angel let you get a nap squeezed in and enjoy a pleasant lunch afterwards.

I love those cheeks. Snap a few recent pictures. I'm sure she is growing quickly!
